Continuing our series of staff picks, this week we chatted with Izzy who has been a part of the SMALL-FOLK team since 2019.
As well as working in the Totnes store, Izzy helps founder Anna with buying for the store and finds beautiful new brands to add to our ever-growing collection of labels. Generally she is an amazing help and a great friend!
With day-trips with her family in mind, Izzy has selected some of her favourite items that have recently arrived which we have shared below.

When the sun is shining, where is the first place you think of visiting with the family?
Izzy: Dartington Hall Gardens just outside of Totnes, or next to a stream on Dartmoor.
What are some of your must-haves for day trips during the spring and summertime? What do you love most about these items - why are they essentials to you?
A good wicker basket to carry everything, Maboba’s are a particularly good size for all of our bits and bobs. Good footwear, we all have Vivobarefoot shoes and they are the only brand that my son will wear. Our One Green Bottle water bottle, either a really big one for us all to share or a smaller size for the kids to have their own...and obviously a selection of lovely clothing from SMALL-FOLK!
Do you have a favourite brand stocked by SMALL-FOLK? If so, why and what new season pieces do you love most from them?
It’s hard to choose but my favourite brands are probably Apolina, The Simple Folk and Poudre Organic. Almost everything from the new season gets a yes from me!

How do you enjoy winding down from a long day spent outside?
My kids love to put on a Yoto story after a day out or in the car on the way home, the Adventure Jacket is handy for when we are out and about to carry the player and keep it protected.

What are you most looking forward to visiting/exploring/doing this spring and summer?
We have an English Heritage membership pass now, so we are excited about exploring all the castles nearby us in Devon and beyond. Planting loads of flowers too!
