Our Story

SMALL-FOLK is my dream and it was born from a simple idea. When my little girl Fearne started walking, I simply couldn’t find shoes for her on the high street. I wanted to buy shoes made by people who had been paid fairly and treated with respect, I wanted to buy ethical and sustainable childrenswear.

So in 2018, I decided to follow my heart and opened SMALL-FOLK.

At the beginning of the year I began searching for ethical clothes, shoes and accessories. I opened the door to my little shop in June and launched the website soon after! In 2020, we made the move to a bigger shop across the road and now stock a small collection of womenswear as well as upscaling our range of childrenswear.


What is SMALL-FOLK?

SMALL-FOLK offers a collection of ethical and sustainable clothing, shoes and
accessories made from natural and sustainable materials for babies, children and women. Here you can find shoes that encourage healthy feet, clothing free from harsh chemicals with freedom of movement to play, and toys which promote imagination and creativity.


Who am I?

I’m Anna, founder of SMALL-FOLK. I run the shop with the help of a small team of wonderful women in sunny Devon. When I’m not busy in the shop, I live with my husband Corin, our very own small folk Fearne and Heath, and our cat Spike. By founding SMALL-FOLK, I hoped to bring you closer to the local makers, environmentally conscious brands and responsible manufacturers producing clothes, shoes and accessories for the children in your life. I hope you enjoy your visit, whether that’s here on our website or in real life!
