Following the announcement of new General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) regulations, we have some unfortunate news to share with our customers in the EU and Northern Ireland.
As of December 13th 2024, we will no longer sell to customers in the European Union and Northern Ireland. We support the need for essential product safety regulations but unfortunately, we do not have the capacity or resources required to fulfil the requirements enforced by the new GPSR system.
We will strive to reverse this once we have more clarity on the regulations and what this means for our capacity as a small, independent business.
We are saddened and frustrated by this new system and the effect it has on our wonderful community overseas.
What Are The New GPSR Regulations?
You may have heard conversations in the news and on social media about new GPSR regulations taking effect this month.
Replacing old safety guidelines, the new GPSR regulations ensure that all sales placed in the EU meet modern safety standards. To demonstrate this, retailers are now required to label individual products with safety and compliance information, present detailed information on the source of materials and manufacturers and have an Authorised Representative based in the EU/NI who acts as a compliance contact and ensures the products meet EU requirements.
The General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) will commence on December 13th 2024. Although these new regulations have been in development for quite some time following the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, they do not offer total clarity for retail businesses and have been released at very late notice - hence our last-minute announcement to you all.
What Does This Mean For SMALL-FOLK Customers?
Whilst we understand the need for updated safety rules, unfortunately, after a thorough review, we are unable to meet the requirements set by the new GPSR system. Consequently, we must stop selling to customers in the European Union and Northern Ireland - this also applies to digital products.
We have updated our delivery settings on the SMALL-FOLK website, which means that as of December 13th 2024, customers from the EU and Northern Ireland will no longer be able to place orders. *If an order is accidentally processed, we will need to cancel it and provide a refund.*
Our services to the rest of the world, including the UK, America, Asia, and Australia, will continue as usual, with no changes.
