A new brand for us here at SMALL-FOLK for AW22, Apolina's latest collection has been developed from a whimsical, mid-century scarf print that marries together the themes of nature, craft and colour. Tones inspired by mountains, moss and lakes come together to create a sense of adventure from both the creative influence and how designs are intended to be worn across practical dresses and ‘everyday’ silhouettes.
Apolina AW22 Lookbook, Samira Dress - Marine and Malena Blouse - Cream
Sure to capture the heart of anyone who appreciates folk craft and hand stitched adornment, new styles from Apolina feature scallop hems, velvet trims, broderie Anglaise frills and signature embroidery. Delicate in aesthetic but ultimately made to be worn by young adventurers. robust finishes, shapes that allow for movement and layerable styling possibilities are notable across the collection which we are absolutely charmed by!
Based in England, Apoline founder Caroline worked in fashion for over ten years before launching her own label. Inspired by the birth of her two daughters and a desire to create more freely from passion, rather than to meet the fast pace that is common within the women’s fashion industry, Apolina collections carry a strong sense of authentic style without the feeling of passing trends; instead focused on longevity and craft.
The Apolina Malena Blouse - Cream and Apolina Ida Quilted Pini Dress - Lakehouse Floral Sage
Inspired by travel and the natural world, relaxed silhouettes are paired with colour palettes influenced by unusual colour combinations found in nature. Beautiful yet practical and created with adventure, comfort and everyday wear in mind, the small-run collections are designed to be layered up or dressed down depending on the weather. A dedication towards minimal waste is naturally achieved through the timelessness appeal of the Apolina aesthetic, enhanced further by beautifully placed folk-style embroidery with a hint of 1970’s flare.

Destined to be passed down through generations, Apolina pays homage to Caroline’s own grandmother who gifted her treasured hand-me-down smocks and dresses personalised with hand-embroidery. Offering a new generation of cherished pieces and memories, production takes place in India where traditional Indian craftsmanship adds a unique and special touch to each individual design through hand smocking, embroidery and stitched finishes.
The Apolina Flora Dress - Lakehouse Floral Sage
The Apolina Jeanne Top - Forester Check Ribbon and Molly Trouser - Blue Mountain
Unusual for independent brands, Apolina works with one independent factory in India who they have developed a strong, ongoing partnership with, based around mutual respect and ethical procedures. Conscious to maintain transparency and to reduce their production waste, Apolina styles are produced in limited numbers through 'small batch' production and any left-over fabrics are repurposed into unique patchwork pieces or donated to individuals within the production to gift to their children and relatives.
As a British brand that incorporates so many worldly influences, we admire the Apolina ethos and can’t get enough of their decorative embroidery patterns and combined prints - here’s hoping they’ll introduce a womenswear line one day too! We are so pleased to welcome Apolina to the SMALL-FOLK collection for AW22 and would love to know what your favourite pieces are!
