Amber Hards Knitwear
Amber Hards is a Bristol, UK-based luxury knitwear designer and maker, workshop host, machine knitting teacher and author of the book 'Machine Knitting Techniques: Texture and 3D Effects'.
In 2024 Amber Hards is taking a step back from her business to raise her son whilst waiting for the arrival of her second child. We are lucky enough to have a few remaining pieces of her Joan Jumpers - be quick to bag one before they are gone!
Using 100% lambswool and other natural fibres, the products Amber makes and sells are incredibly soft to the touch and timeless in design. Working with a mostly neutral colour palette and minimal clean silhouettes, Amber Hard knitwear pieces are made to last with great care, love and attention to detail.
Designing and making everything herself from her studio at the Bristol Textile Quarter, Amber uses hand-operated, vintage domestic knitting machines which take time and attention to operate but always result in something uniquely beautiful. Treasuring this manual process and the amount of effort that goes into knitting a jumper from scratch, Amber is passionate about pushing knitwear forward whilst also educating people on their perception of knitted textiles - as she likes to say “When you knit something nobody’s seen before, it’s just amazing – and all from a cone of yarn.”
