This vest is the first style produced from Orchard Farm's Coloured Ryeland Flock which graze on their pastures beside the Erme Estuary, overlooking Mothecombe Beach.
The design is inspired by the Gansy traditions of coastal fishing knitwear with the cable stitch signifying “safe passage” and the moss stitch, representing the texture of the carrageen moss seaweed on which Herring feed and symbolise optimism for a “bountiful harvest”.
Slow, sustainable knitwear made from Coloured Ryeland wool, has been grown within a regenerative farming system that puts nature at the very heart of the practices used. The yarn is spun at the Natural Fibre Company in Cornwall and knitted in the British textiles heartlands in the Midlands.
